Congratulations to CVUSD’s high school marching bands on their championship wins!

  • Chino Valley Unified School District’s high school marching bands ended their competitive season this month winning top spots in Southern California championships.

    Chino Hills High Marching Band won gold (first place) in the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA) 5A Division Field Championships, held Nov. 18 in Riverside. During the competition, Chino Hills’ Percussion took first place, and its Auxiliary, third place. Chino Hills also took first places in Visual Effect and Visual Performance.

    Chino High’s 77th Cavalry Marching Band took bronze (third place) in SCSBOA’s 6A Division Field Championships, Nov. 18 in Glendora. The band’s Percussion took third place, and its Auxiliary, fourth. That same day, the band won many awards at the Arcadia Festival of Bands, highlighted by it breaking a score of 94 for the fifth year in a row. Band Director Doug Bowden said the band and pageantry both finished with first place awards when combining scores from the Arcadia Festival of Bands parade and field show.

    Ayala High earned silver (second place) in the Western Band Association (WBA) 4A/5A Combined Grand Championships, held Nov. 19 in Fresno. The band also won first place in General Effect; and second places in Music, Visual, and Auxiliary/Percussion. The day before, the band won second place in the WBA’s 4/5A Class Championships, as well as first in General Effect, second in Visual and Auxiliary/Percussion, and third place in Music.

    Don Lugo High’s Marching Conquistadores earned silver (second place) in the WBA’s 1A Class Championships, held Nov. 18 in Clovis, where the band also won first in Music, second places in Visual and Auxiliary/Percussion, and third in General Effect. The next day, Don Lugo placed 11th in WBA’s Combined Grand Championships for 1/2/3A divisions.
