Ramona Junior High School's Michelle Armijo named a Teacher of the Year by State Assemblyman Freddie Rodriguez

  • Ramona Junior High School special education teacher Michelle Armijo has been recognized by Assemblyman Freddie Rodriguez as a Teacher of the Year for his 52nd Assembly District.

    She was nominated for the award by the Chino Associated Teachers union.

    Armijo joined the Chino Valley Unified School District in 2004 as a teacher at Ramona Junior High School in Chino.

    She is the special education department chairperson and Read 180 department chairperson at the school.

    Armijo is also a Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) program mentor teacher, is lead teacher to her school’s new special education teachers, and is new chairperson of the Associated Chino Teachers Special Services Committee.

    She often uses her own money to purchase backpacks, school supplies, and clothing for her students.
