Mr. Hackney Dear Newman Families:

Welcome back to all our new and returning families for an exciting year at Newman! I am excited to be starting my second year as the principal at Newman!  It is going to be another GREAT year!

There are many wonderful things that will be happening this year at Newman!  Our dedicated team of educational professionals are focused on student learning, a commitment to high expectations, innovation and collaboration.  It is my intent to carry out these important traditions and practices as we continue to succeed as a school community.

For our new families to Newman, I would like to share some information about my educational background and professional experience.  Upon graduating from Long Beach State University, I began teaching in Long Beach Unified School district.  While teaching I received my Master’s Degree in Reading Instruction from National University.  After seven years in Long Beach, I transitioned to the Chino Valley Unified School District.  I served as a split elementary school assistant principal.  I then had the opportunity to become an instructional coach for an educational consulting company.  I returned to the Chino Valley Unified School District to serve as a split elementary school assistant principal for one year before being given the opportunity to be the principal at Country Springs Elementary for four years.  I am now in my second year as a Newman Knight!

I feel fortunate to be part of this school culture where the focus is student centered, a commitment to high expectations, innovation, and collaboration. It is my intention to carry on these important traditions and practices. We have fabulous students, parents, community members, and staff at Newman and I am looking forward to building positive relationships focused on your child’s success.  Parents, teachers, support staff, and administration all have an important role to encourage our children to become active learners.  It is my sincere desire to provide expanded opportunities for our students to acquire the skills to become productive citizens in a vastly changing society.

Through a close collegial partnership with everyone associated with Newman, I am confident we will continue the rich history of excellence as Newman Knights!

Sincerely,

Luke Hackney
