Four CVUSD Schools Earn CA Distinguished School Recognition

Congratulations to Chino High, Chino Hills High, Canyon Hills Junior High, and Townsend Junior High Schools for joining approximately 408 middle and high schools throughout the state recognized under the 2026 California Distinguished Schools Award Program! Originally established in 1985, the California Distinguished Schools Program has celebrated the exceptional efforts of schools, districts, teachers, and classified staff for their innovation, talent, and success in supporting students. As noted in the CDE’s press release dated March 10, 2026, this year’s recipients represent the hard work of our middle and high school educators and school staff, who provide our secondary students with life-changing educational opportunities.
Canyon Hills JHS previously earned California Distinguished School status during the 2008/2009 and 2018/2019 school years, and Townsend Junior High School also celebrates its third recognition with previous awards being earned during the 2001/2002 and 2012/2013 school years. This year marks the first time that Chino and Chino Hills High Schools have been observed as a California Distinguished School. Of its 35 school sites, the CVUSD is now proudly home to 21 California Distinguished Schools!
